QMC Bargaining: Next Steps & Important Dates
At the end of the last bargaining session, we gave Queens a comprehensive proposal that addressed all of our issues; staffing, wages, on-call, use of travelers, differentials and ways to retain nurses. With over 100 nurses in attendance at bargaining, Queens began to move more on key issues such as floating but are still ignoring our staffing proposals.
Because the contract is expiring, Queens suddenly wants to bargain more. They said they want to bargain over the weekend. We began bargaining on April 9th, but Queens did not give us any meaningful proposals until the end of May. Now, they want our bargaining team to be removed from their work schedules and leave their units short all because they have dragged their feet and stalled since April. It’s exactly this attitude of putting patients LAST that is our main issue in bargaining. We will not leave our co-workers and patients short just because Queens has not done their job and prioritized patient care.
Bargaining will resume on Tuesday via zoom. Check our LinkTree & GroupMe chat to join. We need to keep the pressure up!
Our contract expires June 30th. When the contract expires, all the terms and conditions remain in effect, including pay.
